Newp...San Diego Commemorative :)

Finally got my first Commemorative half in the mail and I am extremely pleased. The luster is just driping off this coin and I think it's a beautiful coin to start out with. I probably won't be derailing my Morgan set to go after the full set of Commemoratives, but I will difinitely look to add some other nice examples to my collection image

Gorgeous coin, a terrific example of one of my favorite commem designs. An excellent choice image

A very nice coin! Congratulations on adding it to your collection but watch out, the Early Commems can become habit forming.

I think I might be starting to form an addiction... looking at a half dollar design I haven't studied ad infinitum like I have the regular series, noticing new details, learning about grading and the coin's highpoints, learning about how certain issues 'come' in terms of luster and strike and marks... hmmm numismatic rebirth!

kryptonitecomics - I have 40 of the 50 coins needed for the type set. The link in my sig line is to a picture of the 40 I have so far. As Baley noted, learning the nuances of the series and the history and artistry of the various designs makes the Early Commemoratives an exciting and educational series to collect.
  • You just checked out the link in your signature....WOW....you've got some real beauties there, but unfortunately I can't zoom in close on them. I think the toning on your San Diego is fantastic as is the toning on 5th coin down on the left hand side. Sorry not familiar with the design and I can't make out the writing to identify it image
