Buffalo set with varieties

DRG brought up a good point about the IKE peg leg varieties. I also think the buffalo nickel set with varieties ought to include all of the 3 1/2 leg issues. The 36D 3 1/2 legger is the only one so far required for the set, but keep in mind there are 17D, 26D, and 27D 3 1/2 leggers too. I wonder if these will ever make it into the varieites set? image

I think that some of these alleged varieties on the buffs are getting a bit extreme.

At some point the way things are going there will be 3.5 leggers for many more of the dates.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of the 36d and I even cherried a 17d, but the "variety" is way overpriced for something so minor.

It appears that the 36d from what I've seen is the most drastic I guess so I wouldn't mind having one of them.
  • After thinking about it for a while I agree Goose. I think the popularity the 3.5 leggers have received is mainly due to the attraction and popularity of the 37D, even though these varieties aren't as obvious. For a while I was into the 2 feather varieties, but those aren't as rare as many tout, and there are also varying degrees of 2 feathers, making attribution difficult. No "F" coins I don't think will ever catch on, as well as "broken nose" and "broken neck" die polishings. Sometimes it is harder to find a 1916 or 1921S WITH a full third feather!
