Will "slight" hazing on a PR coin still allow DCAM?

BochimanBochiman Posts: 25,377 ✭✭✭✭✭
I have just gotten a 1968 PR68DCAM Washington that has a small bit of haze behind George's head (in the field).
Would it have slabbed DCAM with that hazing in the field or might that have occured post-slabbing somehow?

Very slight haze will not prevent the DCAM designation.

PS: That was a nice score on that 69DCAM nickel a couple days ago. image

    Heh...thanks Russ.
I thought so too (you must be watching a lot image ).
    I had a bid that was a "bit" higher ...hhehehh...glad I didn't need it.

Nickel came in yesterday, picked it up today. It has started peripheral tonight and has lines horizontal that could almost be mistaken for some cleaning, but they aren't. I actually like the look of that nickel image

The quarter though...I am debating that one. Just got it today from an auction from Hottest Coins a couple of weeks ago......

Yeah, I pretty much watch all the pop top 1960's era stuff. I think the seller's crappy images aided you in your quest. image

  • Russ...if you watch all the '60's era stuff, did you see the '61-P Lincoln 66RD that ended yesterday, at almost $200?? What are your thoughts on the price, considering there are 55 in grade and one higher, while the CU guide lists it at $85??

    Crappy photos?
    They were HUGE image

I think I was partially aided by the auction being 10day (I hate those...even with a snipe set) as well as $5 shipping (although, his shipping with insurance did cost ~$4.36 from the post office .. in a yellow bubble envelope).

Now, the photos from hottest coins sucked and, with coin in hand, I can tell where the haze is in the photo (right behind and above the S mintmark).
I took a chance on the auction when I knew the photos sucked....

So tempting....not sure.....hmmmmm....damn washingtons are too hard to come by too image

    Bochiman,

BTW, I hit a shop today and scored four AH sets, two 1962 sets with cameo Frankies, a 1966 SMS set with a cameo dime and a 1968 set with a dime that should grade 69DCAM. image

    All at Greysheet.

    Russ,

There are NO shops around here...you must be dreaming!

Ok Russ....in the next month or two, what say I treat you to lunch, in your area, and we look at a few sets I have and you help school me in modern (1968) grading?
