A nice 72-s Kennedy My 1st. NGC * Designation

Well I thought I would show a picture of my 1st NGC graded Kennedy, it's a 72-s Proof 69*, only 3 graded with the star designation and none higer, so I thought it would be nice to own at least 1of the 3.image

I'll try to get some better pics when I get the coin in hand.
putting together a MS 60 and up Morgan set....60% complete...otlher 40% probably take the rest of the decade!

THat means the Coin was almost a CAM. On proofs it goes.

    PF69
    PF69*
    PF69CAM
    PF69*CAM
    PF69UCAM
PF69*UCAM If you get the *UCAM you have a UCAM coin that has great eye appeal.

Lot's of coins have CAM obverses and plain reverses will get a * designation.
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

  • Thanks MadM. not really sure how the star designation worked.

On business strike coins it's different. A toned Morgan with a * is a coin with very nice eye appeal..

Marty's got it right, but it was also explained to me that if a proof has a spot or any blemish it will not receive the STAR.

So, although proofs, unlike MS coins, don't need superior eye appeal, they cannot be less than average and get the STAR.
