Attn Braddick: real neat Lincoln circ finds.

Looking thru some older Lincoln's I had put aside, these look like 2 neat, clean, well worn decent cents. First looks a whole lot like a 1909S, but rev doesn't want to show me a VDB, and the second looks like a well worn 1922-D?- yea I think I see a faint D ---Oh well. How low do you think they would grade?

Naw, reverse is nowhere near worn enough.

ya but isnt the obv like 70% of the grade?

Maybe it's my monitor, but they look like 1919-S and 1925-D from here. When you're done squinting at the reverse of the first coin for signs of a "VDB," check out Abe's shoulder on the obverse for them.

As far as grades... who knows, anything above 65 and below 4 is a mystery to me. image

Incomplete planchets wanted, especially Lincoln Cents & type coins.

First place I looked was Abe's shoulder, but it looked void of anything. These could definetely be a 19 and a 25 (At some angles it looks like it could be a 23 also) These are no value coins, just neat clean well worn Lincoln's that Braddick might want.

Here's a PCGS AG03 for comparison.....its a 1911-P. As noted above, the reverse o your19xx coin is way too strong to grade even AG03.

Thanks a lot for the pic Craig. I better start rubbing that reverse before I give it to Braddick.image

Thanks for the photos. No matter what, I like those coins.
Craig nailed it though. Lincolns are next to impossible to locate in problem free PO01 as at that point the date and (possible) mint mark are so weak as to make the coin unslabbable.

In fact, thinking about it: I don't believe I've ever seen a true PO01 Lincoln Wheat or a GD04 or less Memorial!

  • So what is the definition of a "problem free" PO01 Lincoln?

I see that Pat Braddick has posted a $250 reward for a GD04 Memorial Linclon (way to go Pat).........however, I've upped the bounty to $1000 for a PO01 memorial 1959-1964. So, forget about these worn out wheats and lets see some worn Memorials! There's got to be some - the 1959 is 45 years old at this point!

  • I have a 1919-S that's lower than that... thinking about sending it to ANACS to see what they think... if it comes back without a net-grade... I'll try it at PCGS, then pawn it off on one of these nutcases image

For goodness sakes, of course it must be a PCGS GD04 Memorial. You can't add ANACS coin to the Registry! image

  • The wheat I have posted above is a 1919-S. The date is visible when looked at in bright light under a basic glass. Any chance?
