A beautiful (NOT for sale) Arrows Half

I recently sold this 1854 O Arrows 50c PCGS MS65. It is truly one of the prettiest of this type I've ever seen. I thought some of the seated and color lovers might enjoy taking a look.

Don't say that until you see the coin in person. The coin is probably nicer and more lustrous than you think.

I concur, a stunning looking coin. Finding an attractive, higher grade 1854-1855 arrows half has become much harder since the dipping mania started. I would love to have such a coin in my collection. Someday I hope to see this coin for sale again.

Adrian - the image does not understate the color IMO.....and the owner of the coin now said the colors in the image nailed what they are like when the coin is seen in hand.

I own an Arrows and Rays with nice toning. Not the same type of tone, but very pretty and tough to find on an A&R. And, it has a nice pedigree. Pittman-Jung
This coin looks MUCH prettier in person.

Bustman... Amazing Arrows w/ Rays half you have there. High grade toned Seated Halves w/ Rays reverses are definately the most beautiful reverse of any US coinage, in my opinion.

That is a beautiful arrows and rays half. Wow, you can afford much nicer coin than I. The arrows and rays is a crazy looking coin. The rays are everywhere and vary in their placement and size. There is a pattern to their placement and that's it. Notice how the rays are long and go under the left wing but not the right. Looks like they were added to the die by hand. Do you know more about the history?

Merc, I think maybe the "rays" you're talking about are really die clash marks?
