Glad someone read the thread. I liked the way they all banter back and fourth and really talk about every aspect of hitting. WIlliams is very vocal in his opinion.

Thanks for finding this article. I always heard about it too, but never seen it until now.

A few years ago, Williams was talking about this on the radio and he mentioned that Boggs and Mattingly did not know about the wood burning.

Well, Williams forgot. Mattingly did indeed smell the burn after all. That's it, now he definately belongs in the HOF.
