Starting to take a real like to Ike -- toned that is!

It ain't a Peace $ but there's just something about toned Ikes that catch my eye as well. Original Dansco toning isn't impossible to find on these coins, but it aint easy putting together a whole set of them. So far I have several, MS and proofs and I'm trying to do a complete toned set.

Post your toned Ikes -- if you got'em!

By the way -- I think the imaging software used by this seller is pretty cool as well!

Family, kids, coins, sports (playing not watching), jet skiing, wakeboarding, Big Air....no one ever got hurt in the air....its the sudden stop that hurts. I hate Hurricane Sandy. I hate FEMA and i hate the blasted insurance companies.

Thanks. It's actually better than it looks.
I'm in it too deep to ever sell it.
I had to give $1 for it back in 1990.
I know I paid too much but I just had to have it.image

That's one of the great weaknesses of moderns: It's so hard to get them anywhere close to melt value.image

Nice toning! I have a few of those myself. The toning is not caused by Dansco holders but rather the original mint issue slabs they came in. mike image

Are you sure? I've actually removed several similarily toned coins from Dansco Albums -- not just Ikes, but JFKs as well.

  • I like my 73P in an old green holder image

  • Hey Frank thanks for posting that one. I got a 71P that's almost the same color and pattern -- I was thinking it might not slab since I'd never seen a blue Ike before, but I guess it it most be okay. Who would waste their time AT a common date/grade Ike blue????!!!!

    Thanks

Yes the original holders make that kind of toning. Kennedy's in the plastic mint sets do as well sometimes. Next time you go to a show or a dealers look at a few of those Ikes in the Brown boxes. mike image
  • I have a couple that are decent and both are proof. The 1972 is a " Brown Ike " that`s still in it original Goverment holder. The 1978 is actually toned brown on both sides and completely so. The 1978 is my personnal favorite of the Ikes I have.
