Hi All,
this is the best of the first set of images I have taken of this new Benson dime. I am very pleased and will keep it over the '92 PR63CAM. Everyone who PM'd me and said this would be a definite upgrade and would be obviously so in hand was right. This is clearly more original and much more satisfying. Half the mintage too - only 675. It certainly is not AT for those that said it was, and yes - there are minor hairlines but I expect them on a 63. They are much less prominent however - more like album or slide marks and very light, and less than most other Proof Barber 10c I have seen. There is more luster on this coin as well. The reverse mirrors are equally deep - the obverse mirror on the '06 is not quite as deep due to the toning. However, the target toning on the obverse is very atractive and is the usual blue fade to red/purple in a beautiful fine speckle. Overall, much better preservation with beautiful deep color and excellent eye appeal - a PQ coin IMHO All the hairlines and specks are in the plastic. My new icon is the original auction catalog photo of the reverse. And, whoever said it could never look like the glare-on original auction image posted next to my scan below - it does I just can't capture it with my scanner (yet).
Best,
Billy
