Opinions on new pickup, Please.

Today, I just picked up 5 - 1963 proof sets. These sets are unopened and still in the original shipping box from the mint. The box has been opened but the sets are still sealed. Would you open the sets and look for something good? Or would you just try and sell the sets? I paid Redbook on them.

I thought that 1963 sets are sealed if they were mailed to a collectore buying one set only. Sets sent in boxes with multiple sets were not sealed.

Chances are they were opened, looked at and resealed. But I may be wrong.image
  • Being who I am...... I would open those suckers up and hope for the best!! image

  • Well, on these 5 all are sealed exactly the same. The center of the flap only. The very ends of the flap are loose and the gum is still intact.
BTW, the same place I got these had since brought in 10 Double Eagles in EF to AU condition, he had them an hour and had wholesaled them to back east somewhere. I did get to hold one though.
