Reichs Party Day? I don't know anything about it but I too could be convinced by that...uhh... beautiful design!
.....GOD
"Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you." -Luke 11:9
"Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might." -Deut. 6:4-5
"For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; He will save us." -Isaiah 33:22
An unusually "soft" design for a Nazi medal. "Bad" increasingly puched out "good" from 1936 on.
Interesting tin ha'penny, Donovan! I didn't know there was such a thing. Tell me, though, how does a holed coin be "high grade"? How much does its "material" grade get reduced by the hole?

That's actually not a hole, that is the copper plug that they were issued with. They are bimetallic coins, the plug was included in the design to help prevent forgery.
On another note, i seriously considered buying that coin. I love tin coins sooo much!
I saw that one too! But i definately cannot afford anything as good as that, it's James II and it still has lustre. Now that really is one of those coins where you ask "where has it been and how has it got to now looking like that!"
Bloody beautiful.
But then again Colin Cooke sells the best when it comes to halfpennies and farthings.

Indeed! When I first saw it during the initial Cooke auctions of the Nicholson halfpennies, I was blown away. Yes, it had to have resided in a very special place for 300+ years. It's all the more remarkable given England's climate. I think it sold for something like 5000 quid, maybe more.....too rich for mouse-blood!!
There are also some incredible tinny William & Mary's which were sold at that time......great stuff.

Have you bought that one or is it still available?
I didn't notice the adjustment marks on the obverse before now though, i was too impressed by the condition to have seen that!
How much did Mr Howitt want for it?

No, I didn't buy it, just thought I'd link it since it so nice. He's asking 495 pounds.

That price includes postage though so i'm convinced! A little on the high side but it's a nice coin.
