What does the reference "FR" mean?

A number of the coins listed in the new Steinberg's gold catalog have FR numbers. Forgive my ignorance, but

are they?

It's a reference to the (Arthur and Ira's) Friedberg, gold coins of the World catalogue. A classic for gold coin collectors.
