Clad Roosies...2 left to get in FB!

StoogeStooge Posts: 4,668 ✭✭✭✭✭
I was checking on the pop report and some luck collector (Probably a dealer) made a 1974 MS65FB, so that leaves the 1970 and 1978 to get!

Later, Paul.

Paul, I think Rick made that coin. If thats the one he was telling me about. The label number was for
an FB coin and the pop said FB but when he received the coin the FB was missing. He called PC and
they said to resubmit it and they will add the FB......I think.

If this is truly the case, how typical of PCGS... making the submitter pay to have PCGS's mistake corrected!

Bush.. They should at least give a freebie for that, what do you think? Next question.. The 1978 FB, is proving to be tough to find anywhere near FB. Anyone have any hopes of making one, or know of one being submitted that has a chance? Last Question.. Whats going on with the 04-P 68FB's? Really that tough to find, or population control?

I guess that I didn't state that PC said they would reholder the coin for free.....Sorry.

Dan, I have a 78P going in today for designation review. I'm not saying its a lock FB but
I have seen far worse labeled FB then this one. Deepest cut bands I have ever seen on a
78P. Almost looks like they were filed, yet the coin is graded and in the holder.

  • rcmlgm89 Ron,

I've been looking for a 1991D for 6 months to help my daughter complete her 1991 Mint Set. If one appears you will get a real fight for it.

    Good luck!

OK guys I have a 91-D in MS67 which is the top pop for this year, and there is only 1 FB and its a 65. This coin is in my set, but since you both need it I will sell it so one of you can complete your set. Maybe I can replace it later, and needing 14 coins I will not be hurt by tacking one more coin onto the list. Now the thing is I paid $100. for it and won't take less, just so you have an idea about the value of it. These coins in 67 rarely come on ebay as you both know. You can send me your offers, or I can list it on any auction you like. Dan.

Still no FB's. What gives? Is anyone searching these dates currently?

Paul I have almost totaly dedicated myself to finding 65-79 FB's. And I have been able to find quite a few among those dates. Now for the bad news, no 74 or 78 with full bands. Although I have found some that are closer to FB (IMO) than a lot of ones I've seen, and bought, in FB holders. Grade wise MS64-66 FB is all I have been able to get grades for from PCGS. And most of these are fairly common and/or plentiful enough that there is not enough demand for them. So I'll hold them instead of giving them away in auctions. image
Oh by the way, I'm closing my set also. I want to see if it's true that it makes it harder to get what you need when others can see what you need.

  • I think it may be time to wt the fb dimes a little different, add more than 2pts for a fb dime
in a date that has very few in the pops, this could raise there value ,example would be to look
at the 45p merc, you can get a ms66 or ms67 nb dime cheap, try that with a 64fb or 65fb
    check the auction prices

    Paul,
I never stopped looking for those dates. They just don't exist in FB. I did end up with Rick's 90P 67FB. It's the
only 90P graded FB. This is the date Datentype said would never be made in FB. My intentions were to put
the coin away for a long time because I agreed with Marks assessment. Unfortunately a very astute collector
(yes roosie collector) tracked it down and made me an offer I couldn't refuse.....
  • guess it may be time to break out those sealed boxes of 78 mint sets
and see if anything looks good enough to send in for grading
