Attractive coin; AU-58 or MS detail. In my opinion, dipped long ago and subsequently retoned naturally in an album (who cares though). It looks great.

Possibly lightly messed with a quite a while ago, but that doesn't detract much from the eye appeal. Very beautiful album toning. image

  • Very nice looking coin. I would say dipped years ago and retoned in an album. Sure has great eye appeal!!!!

I would say it should be an AU58, but may have gone MS62 with that eye appeal.

It looks at least dipped and or cleaned and re-toned. That's not so bad as many are. But this type of color doesn't look very natural for a Bust Half.
Probably re-toned in an album. Having said that it's not the type of toning I care for on a Bust Half. It may be pretty on a Morgan though.

The 1835 doesn't come as nice as this coin very frequently. I believe that NGC will grade it 62 or 63, and that the retoning and light rub on the cheek and wing tops will not prevent a MS grade.

I doubt that PCGS will grade the coin any higher than AU 55, the first time around. That may seem shocking, but the difference in grade is totally dependent on PCGS desiring a totally original coin.

Gorgeous, original, easily MS65, could see MS66 depending on what it looks like in real life.

Nice album toning. I have something like this one, but not as pretty. The discoloration on Liberty's cheek looks like slight friction making it an AU58 like several others have said. I will also defend NGC. Sure, any company can make a mistake and overgrade a coin, but NGC will not normally give MS grades on AU coins. Bust halves sometimes are given MS60-61 which are sometimes really AU58. Determining MS for Bust halves can be tricky on toned coins.
