Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops = low class

Oklahoma led Nebraska 30-0 deep into the fourth quarter last night.
Instead of Stoops having some class and putting in the subs with less
than five minutes left, he leaves all his starters in including Jason White.
Not only that, but he's calling plays for Jason to throw the ball into the end
zone with under 1 minute left to play.
Why is a coach with a 30-0 lead having his players throw bombs into
the end zone with time running out ?
When Oklahoma and Nebraska used to blow out opponents in the past,
they had their starters play only a half, or at the most three quarters, and
then the second team would come in and usually run up the score even more.
But you couldn't ask the second teamers not to play hard when they finally
got the chance to play.
What Bob Stoops did last night in the name of BCS poll position brought
any respect for him to a new low level. He should publicly apologize for
breaking this unwritten rule amongst coaches.
So, the game ends with Callahan shoving it back in his face.
Actually Callahan was just trying to run out the clock when he handed
the ball to the fullback only to have the fullback dance 40 yards through
the OU defense. Joe Daley gets the ball after the next play and spikes
it with 1 second left to get the field goal unit on the field to break the
shutout ....final 30-3.
That would have never happened if Stoops would have just run out the clock
like he should have with under 5 minutes remaining.

In this mornings Lincoln paper Stoops is quoted as saying, "In hindsight I guess I shouldn't have done that."
He'd felt a lot worse if White or one of his other starters were injured on some freak play or something.
Also, it's reported Bill Callahan said " @#^@&$@ hillbillies" to the jeering OU crowd as he left the field. Can't blame him.
beat texas? WOW! Kansas had texas on the ropes untill just a freak incident happened and they won...
beat oklahoma state? WOW by a fieldgoal! should have lost that game.
they arent as good as auburn.
I agree with you - Nebraska can't complain about anyone running the score on them for another 10 years just to make up for all the running up they did
when it spanked Spurriers Florida Gators 62-24
for the national championship. I'm sure Steve wouldn't
get mad if Tom Osbourne left the starters in to take it
into the 80's or 90's like they could have.

That is what happened to ALABAMA
Mike Shula, playing his starter Brody Croyle
in the second half against WESTERN CAROLINA
when they were up 38-0
He took a hit, and was injured and out for the season.
He has taken grief about it ever since.
Begging for mercy is a poor choice of words.
That would be like me saying Notre Dame was begging for mercy
when they got beat both times by Nebraska a few years back. Just not true.
Even Bob Stoops said that he shouldn't of done it in the post game comments.
So if Bob agrees with me, then why should anyone listen to you ?

I would have loved to see Nebraska roll up points against the Gators
Read this paragraph:As for the trick play late by Solich, that just struck me as typical Nebraska. You can't decry it or ask them to just kneel for a quarter. You gotta play the full game, but it's just not something some coaches would avoid doing. It was more disappointing than anything else. The final TD was scored by bench players running the usual offense - no problem there. This one was on a trick play by starters, up by 5 scores in the last seconds of the third quarter. I think it said a lot that Walker put in the subs a few minutes before Solich. If Solich feels he has to run up the score in a non-January 1 bowl to impress some pollsters or make up for losing to Oklahoma and Kansas State, then you just gotta feel sorry for the guy. Every bully meets his match one day (ask Coop or Hayden Fry), and I won't really feel sorry for Solich when that day comes. Final score Nebraska 66 NU 17. Hmmm any comments?

And here is more for you:The winner of the “Couldn’t happen to a nicer team” award goes to Nebraska who got clobbered 70-10 by the high octane Red Raiders of Texas Tech. Nebraska just received a bit of college football’s version of karma. Ex-Cornhusker coach Tom Osborne was infamous for running up the scores on helpless teams. How does it feel Husker fans?

So cry on.
I also see one of the Nebraska linemen headbutted an Oklahoma student WITH HIS HELMET ON - before the game on Saturday!
Nebraska logic dictates that "...ee shouldn' 'uh been 'dat close to 'da feeld...."
> for all the running up they did
I would agree with this for Nebraska fans. But not the coach or the players. This isn't the coach that ran up the score on
past opponents and these aren't the players who ran up the score.

After reading your last post, I see that you need to
attend Notre Dame to get some valuable lessons on
proper etiquette when discussing a subject.
Quit getting your panties in a wad ? What does that mean ?
Also, do you want me to post the statistics on academic
all Americans graduated by Nebraska and Notre Dame in
the past 30 years ? Would you like to place a wager on
the winner ?
As far as the Northwestern game, Nebraska was voted
out of a BCS berth that year and was quite upset entering
that game. They came out to make a statement that
they were slighted. Did Eric Crouch play any of the fourth quarter ?
I have the tape if you want the answer. I believe Nebraska scored
35 in the second quarter and brought in the subs in the 4th quarter.
Yes, Texas Tech blew away Nebraska this year.
This is a very tough rebuilding year for Nebraska.
Texas Tech did it with class, bringing in the second string in the late goings.
I have total respect for that team playing hard and giving Nebraska a whipping.

Woo Hoo!! They beat the spread!!
You know, at least at Kansas, they have the basketball season to look forward to -- what do we have???
