  • 100proof1957 - a) it's not an MS, IMHO, though the pics are poor; 2) it's AT (almost 100% certain of this); 3) the listing Q&A's are hilarious. Please let us all know what PCGS (or other TPGS) grades it. Good luck!!

  • If you can have them put it in writing that they have irrefutable proof that the coin could not have been toned like we claim it was.

Umm, doesn't that seem to be an impossible standard? Note he doesn't say he'll honor his offer if they (TPG) simply label it as as AT.

Have you read the seller's "About Me" babbling? Look at this:

"If we are to take the definition of the term artificial in the broadest sense of the word it would mean that an artificially toned coin is a coin that would not otherwise be toned if Man had nothing to do with them. If that is the case we can assure our bidders that all toned coins that exist today are artificially toned. If we were to use the narrower interpretation of the word then unless the coin has been painted there are no coins that are artificially toned. If PCGS or other coin grading service refuses to grade the coins even if it meets the criteria for toned coins then they should not be allowed to grade the so called Monster toned coins, target toned coins or any other coin that are toned."

Basically they define toning in their own way to justify their AT crap. PCGS is going to bag it but they aren't going to make good on their offer - I can guarantee it.

Yes, it is impossible. The seller says that all toning is artificial and then asks people to prove something that is impossible to prove. It is a really lame way to justify the crap they sell. Read their About Me.

Hey! I think we discovered DorkKarl's eBay ID! image

  • California people correct me if I'm wrong, but last time I was at Signal Hill, Ca it was a vast stinky slum with old oil derricks still pumping out heavy sulfur crude ( It actually is a hill where oil was first discovered after Wilshire/Beverly Hills in the 19th Century). Basically the seller is saying you're a scared punk with no guts if you let these experts tell you what to like. That line of reasoning, together with the sentence structures, suggests to me you are dealing with poorly educated lower class trash living in or about the old Signal Hill Field. After you get the $25 coin you should do everthing you can to recover any money from paypal and neg the seller. Just have NGC preview the coin at a show insread of wasting any more money. Of course an unethical person would buy a counterfit at the show, submit it, and then report the seller to eBay, Treasury Dept., and Post Office. But I'm not suggesting I would do that to this criminal.image

Don't pay the guy until you get a definition from him as to what "irrefutable proof" is. If you don't then it is a setup. The coin will get BB'ed but the seller will claim they were wrong and did not provide you with any "proof", and he will pull up a pic of a PCGS BTW (say from a coin dealer's website) and claim it looks the same as the coin you "won".

On the other hand, this guy does not appear to be stable, so who knows? He may be stupid enough to believe PCGS will holder it at MS-64, then he will stop selling coins!! (we wish!)
  • I like the previous Cornhusker1 suggestion of "Don't pay him until..." except modify it to "Don't pay him EVER..." Send it back and say your Mama says it's AT because she just made one on the stove.. And he better not say anything disrespectable 'bout your mama or else!!! Seriously like Coinhusker1 says, the guy seems unstable so just cut your losses and be done with him.

  • I really hope this nut job actually files all the lawsuits they want to against members of this board. When they are done paying the legal fees for the frivolous lawsuits, they won't be able to afford an internet connection any more.

Would having it in "in writing" on the label of an ANACS AT slab count?
  • What does "MS+++++" actually mean?

Damn 2centsin is such a loser.
