My First PSA 10 !!!

Wow, they actually do give those 10's out to regular guys! I sent a 10 card submission on the November special. The 10 was a 1985 Donruss Kirby Puckett RC. It's not a vintage Mantle, but it's not exactly a 2004 Topps card either. I also sent 6 1972 Topps commons, and 2 came back a PSA 9. Needless to say, I was pretty happy with the submission.

Also, here is a question for you pros. What if a card has perfect centering, mint corners, nice gloss and focus, but it has one of those small bubbles on the surface that are common with 70's issues (the bubbles that you can only see if you hold it in the right light)? Let's say the card would be a 9 without the bubble, how much would the bubble downgrade the card?

    Congratulations Frank!
If you have the time, please post a scan of the card. On the slight blemish, I have one that got downgraded from what I thought was going to be a 9 to an 8 - I assumed that was the reason.

Way to go on the Puck-man! I'd like to see that scan, too. I don't think any of my raw '85 Pucketts or Clemens would rate 10, but I'd like to compare.

Those black borders are very hard to get 10s CongratS!

I agree on the black borders. I wonder why the 85 Fleer Puckett SMR's for $100 more, though?

On the scan, I don't actually have the cards yet. I just got the email from PSA on Thursday.

Because there aren't any '85 fleer factory sets to pull them from.

From what I've seen, the factory issues solve the black border chipping problem, but there are still a lot of obstacles after that. Good job.

I guess that makes sense. One thing though, I found this Puckett thrown in a shoebox! image

    Just kidding!

It must be a good feeling. I have yet to experience it. Congrats!!!
Proud of my 16x20 autographed and framed collection - all signed in person. Not big on modern - I'm stuck in the past!

    Great 10 to pull! Congrats
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

I just got my cards today. I will try to post a picture this evening of the PSA 10 Puckett RC.

One question though. I sent in a 1985 Donruss Clemens as well from the same factory set, and it only received a PSA 7. Well, I though it may have been because of a print defect that I distinctly remember. The word "Roger" as in "Roger Clemens" at the bottom is in yellow ink. The ink on one of the letters was smeared. It was noticeable. The card I received in a PSA 7 holder IS NOT MY CARD! HOW DID THAT HAPPEN? Has anybody ever had that happen to them before!
