Does this Peace dollar look bag toned?

The cresent on the reverse makes me think it could be bag toned.

  • It looks pretty clearly to me to be album toned.

Anaconda..The cresent on the reverse is the exact shape of another peace dollar that could have been laying on top of this coin in a bag. I figured album tone would go all the way around the rim.

Album. if it was the exact shape and size, it wouldnt fit within the confines of the rims???????????????

It would fit in the confine of the rims if the coin was sitting offset to one side.

    FC,

I don't think it could be bag toned--if you fit a peace dollar on the thin part of the crescent (either end), it extends too far to have another peace dollar fit in it and tone all the way around. In addition, the obverse doesn't look like bag toning colors. I've got to go album toned on this one.

  • I agree - album toned.
  • Not bag toned -- here's the only bag toned Peace $ I've seen in the past 2 years

Notice how the obverse is brillant and there's a slight area of toning on the obverse which would correspond to were the coin might have made the most contact against the bag. Further the toning on the reverse is also the darkest in the same contact point.

Crescent doesn't always mean bag, but that Peace $ sure is pretty though! Nice coin!

Bag toning predominates on one side only. This coin definitely not bag toned. May not have been album toned either, in my opinion.
