State Quarter Selection Committee

Does anyone know how one would go about trying to get on their state's committee? I know in my state they said it would be after the new governor is elected. I would like to get on this for my state (and have some connection to the gov's office if needed), but have no idea about when these things get started. We are the first quarter for '07.

Anyone know how things worked in other states?

  • I'm not 100% sure, but I think it's up to the individual states as to how they want to do it. Some states encourage all residents to participate by submitting designs. On the other hand, Mississippi never submitted a design and the Mint had to come up with the magnolia design. image

  • Contat you governors office and your state representative and state senators offices and lobby for the position. When the Governor starts putting together the commission he doesn't really know who to appoint, but if he has people who have requested the appointment and have given him a list of qualifications (and have the represenatices and senators backing him.) it would seem to me that they would be more likely to be appointed. If you don't ask for it how will he know you want it?
