Advice Needed: Is It Time To Sell?

About a year ago I decided to add a Barry Bonds autograph to my collection. I bought a raw 2001 Bowman Heritage autograph card on Ebay for around $110. I sent the card in for grading and it came back a 9 (Pop report of 4). Now comes my delima. This card keeps going up in value and is up to $250 dollars in the new beckett. Is it time to sell? I think it is going up since there are no new Bonds autos coming out on the marketplace. I like having a Bonds auto but do you think I will be able to pick one up at a fraction of the cost in a few years? Hopefully this won't turn into a barry Bonds sucks debateimage

  • Hey ROCKDJ

I think I would hold onto it for now, unless you have a need to sell.

I don't think he signs for the card companies like most of the other players. I think he has a special contract or something......(he probably signed it in that leather chair he had hauled to his lockerimage

    Just kiddin'

On the other hand - you'll never go broke takin a profit!

As a collector, the increase would never motivate me - but if you need the dough, strike while the iron is hot!

Thanks for the advice guys. I don't need the money but If I thought I would be able to buy a Bonds auto much cheaper in a couple of years I would sell this one.

I would hold onto it until next season, as he nears 714 there will be a spike and if he has a good year he will be approaching 755 in September. His press time will never be higher and as they say "there is no bad press". People will be all over ebay looking for Bonds stuff, not just the regular collectors that you would see now.

I agree with him. You should sell when he is closing in on the record (not after). Then let the market cool down and you can buy it back for around half of what you sold it for and in the end probably end up having a Bonds auto and some profit.

    P.S. Bonds Sucks! haha
