--The goose design looks cool.
--Goose is one of Canada's most majestic creatures.
--The coin was issued for Canada's 100th birthday.

The town where I live has become something of a "home away from home" for Canadian Geese!! Thousands have taken a break from their annual migratory flight to set up permanent residence in our parks, open fields, corporate headquarters' lawns, etc! Till now, all we have to show for it has been traffic tie-ups as they casually cross the street as they please, well-manicured lawns (due to their incessant nibbling), and a TON of goose-droppings on our lawns, sports fields, and - - as a result -- on our kids' soccer/baseball/football/etc uniforms. If there's a way to find themselves inside the rink, they'll soon be setting up shop on my son's ice hockey rinks as well!!

So I think it would be neat to have THIS coin take up residence in our community as well. And since I'm the only Forum member from here, it, by default, should come home to roost with ME!!

I'd like to have it because my father sculpted Jack Miner. When I get the bust in the house he will need a goose to keep him company.

The first reason that I would LOVE to have the Canadian Goose coin, is because that is the only bird/animal/goose that my Dad was so very proud of - that he had it stuffed! Being a bird lover myself, I personally don't believe in killing those beautiful birds, but he was a hunter, and the bird still resides on his office wall, which remains as it was as he left it when he passed from this world on Memorial Day 2002. This coin would always remind me of the times I spent out hunting with my Dad - even tho I was a young girl.

Secondly, it's a really kewl coin - I have lots of birds - ducks, guineas, silkies, easter chicks and regular chickens - not to mention we have a million redbirds in our woods - Mr. Goose would not get lonely here! Point is that I do NOT have a goose yet! Last year one came to visit and he hung out for about a week, and I fed him - I had hoped he would stay. He just wandered around like he enjoyed it here. Eventually he left, and that has left an emptiness in my heart that can only be filled by another goose!

And last but not least, my final reason is because I am new to the darkside and this will be a really kewl addition to my very small darkside collection. I just finished ordering the Krause catalog so I can learn more about darkside coins. My area of interest is coins with birds and animals.

In the spring of 2003, in a derelict parking lot for a huge hi-tech company I saw a Canadian goose chasing a skateboarder across the whole lot. They can get aggressive defending their nests. The geese nest there every spring, talk about habitat encroachment, and with the hi-tech recession the buildings are pretty much only used by the geese.

I would like to have that coin because I'm not a big fan of John Kerry and I thought that his goose hunting gave the sport bad press. Every time I look at the coin, I will think of how glad I am that he is not our president!

Great giveaway

I would love the coin in my collection as it reminds me of my "wonder years" at University back in England where there was a huge flock of Canada geese on the grounds of the halls of residence, and I haven't seen any since I left many years ago (too sentimental?)

I like it, even if it's not a stork We have a large flock of geese residing (at least I see them there all the time) in front of the hospital. I pretend they bring babies. Perhaps I need help.

With so many excellent responses, I was having a difficult time deciding who to choose. My husband suggested putting all your names in a hat, draw a name and selecting that way, which is how I usually have my giveaways..LOL I've decided to select them my husband's way (I'll let him draw the name), so am closing the contest now and will draw a name today.
