A friend of mine who does not collect coins just called me up asking if Mercury Dimes are valuable. He saw this strange eBay auction close.

It looks like it closed for close to current melt value, unless the lot was diluted by thousands of dateless Buffalo Nickels. Some of the "high dollar" coins look whizzed. But I wonder why the last picture was included - a ferret being held in a tattooed man's lap.
