Has the luster rubed off of Set Registries

Members who have had sets listed for a few years how do you look at the registry now? I notice I have alot of coins sitting around that I haven't been registering. I don't know if I'm just lazy, tired of the registry, or focused on other aspects of life. I still enjoy the coins, just stopped adding new ones. Every now and then, I get the urge to list them, maybe quarterly or annually in the future but not like I used to. I can remember comming back from Baltimore or the post office and "logging the coins in" was the first thing I would do. Id say the registry right now is a AU58 - Still like it but not my main focus......

  • I've been part of the Registry for slightly over two years, I believe, and am just as excited about posting a coin than I was earlier. Of course you have to purchase a coin before you can post it and that's been my problem of late.

  • I really enjoy the Registry and its a kick to see your sets grow! For me it's reinforcement for collecting goals I have set out.

I think if I were actually trying to complete a set, I would still be enthusiastic about it, but I too now sometimes take some time to get around to adding a new coin. I still love looking at the registry and what additions people are making.

Still hot and heavy on the registry sets.

Upgraded my number one Ike set three times in the last two weeks. Only have three coins to upgrade now!

One is most likely on the way, the other two hopefully someday!

    Ditto what James said.

This month for my sets - I picked up a FULL RED 25(s) Lincoln Cent MS64, a few nice Modern Commem MS70's, a few KILLER Kennedy MS Half Dollars (including a 1969(d) MS67 super color coin!!), a cool pattern nickel and a few PR70DC Lincolns. It has been a good month for the Registry so far image

"Has the luster rubbed off of Set Registries?"

I don't know, but the luster has certainly rubbed off of the coins within my set Registries. image

What gets really hard is upgrading....once you put together a "killer" set, it is exceedingly difficult to find nicer coins....imageimage

    Good news, bad news story....

My interests have changed but still involved with the Registry. I have never really been gung-ho with it and use it more as a 'list' or 'inventory' tool.

If you want to keep a list or inventory along with value and price paid go to "MyCollection" at Heritage. I believe that you can include coins in PCGS, NGC and ANACS holders.

Most of my customers can't wait to add their new items to their Registry, and when I call them from a show where I've located one or two items for them, once they commit to buy they add the PCGS Cert No. even before I've sent them a photo. I tell them they should really wait till they have the coin in hand, but they seem too eager than to be patient. My Registry customers have never returned anything I've sent them except once on an item they already had and forgotton to add.

So, I see no abatement in the enthusiasm for any of my customers. Moreover, as I develop new customers, they too seem eager to get their names up "in lights" so to speak.

Maybe have matured in my interest in the registry. Have started posting lower grade cameo Jeffs in early proofs. These lower my standing in points but are more interesting since the prewar cameos are scarce.

Also, chose not to hit the button at Heritage on the 1938 Jeff Pr67Cam at $10k and the 1938 Washie Pr68 at $8k. I think the Jeff was over the top, but I'm not sure about the Washie. Point is that I find that the registry points are not always the key. Although, both coins looked real nice.

I still get a kick out of posting a new coin and photo.
