More Photos

I posted some more Vicky cent photos. Click the link in my sigline to see them. My photo skills still need some practice (particularly with getting the light just right), but I like taking and posting the photos. No sense having the coins if nobody ever sees them. I bought some more very nice Vicky cents at TOREX last week. I need to have PCGS crossgrade them from ICCS, then I'll post them to the registry set and upload pics. The set is still a work in progress and a lot of fun.

  • Rob,

I've been enjoying your pictures, ever since you first posted your sigline. Your collection is of amazing quality, but I'm surprised at how different two coins of the same grade look, usually the MS64RB grade, the RB designation has really large margins I guess. That being said, the most beautiful coin besides your sigline is for me the 1898-H 66RB, where IMO the graders could not have an agreement on the RD designation (one wonders why) and so they bumped the grade by a point to compensate.

    I can't wait for the rest.image

    Thanks, Dimitri.

I agree with you on the wide amount of different tonings you find in MS-64RB. Most of the 64's I have are the ones I have owned for 20 years or so. I think several of them may eventually be candidates for trading up to 65's.

My new purchases are mostly 65's and red, when I can find them. The DPN9 #2 (sigline coin) will likely stay, since no 65 reds exist to my knowledge. I also just bought a 1900 (no H) at TOREX in 64 red that is a keeper because probably no 65 reds exist in that date either. No 65 reds are known in the 1859 W9/8 and the 1859 DPN9 #1 and both are very tough dates in 64 as well. The remaining dates should be available in 65 if I'm patient.

This is one of those sets that may take ten years to get it where I want it. It's a wonderful series and I am having a lot of fun collecting it.

  • Some excellent coins, keep sharing.

I can't believe that 1898 is considered RB. What a great looking cent.
