Heritage Seller's Fees

I may consign a coin to Heritage for the FUN show.
This would be my first consignment to an auction house.
The seller's fee is 5% of the hammer price.
Question: is the seller's fee a standard rate for everyone or
is it negotiable? If so, would I be better off submitting the coin through
a third party (big dealer) that would perhaps have more leverage in
negotiating a better fee agreement? Thanks for your imput. David.

IMO, this is a prime example of where a dealer can earn some money for giving you good advice at zero cost to yourself. Have a professional review the coin and recommend which auction to consign it in. Then have the dealer place it and more than likely you'll get a small percentage of hammer for yourself and the dealer will get a 2-3% finders fee. Win - win for both parties.
Forget the seller's commission.
