For the people that have a number of years collecting under their belt - is it really worth getting a copy of Spink every year? I have 2004 and I wasn't planning on getting 2005 as I use Spink more as a reference to coin type / variety rather than a price guide. Do the price increases follow the market or vice versa?
There will most likely be some decent increases but they will mostly affect Unc. pricing, and to some extent the EF pricing for pre-Geo III....at least that's my guess.
Also, keep in mind that is just a 'guide', somewhat akin to the Redbook. If someone wants to sell me true gem material for the listed Unc. prices in the 2005 Spink, please send me a PM. Even though I'm poor, I'll seek assistance from the monks, and Robin Hood, himself.
Edited: And, NO! It's not necessary to get a copy every year.
I've had a 2005 Spink on order from the UK for a month but it hasn't showed up yet. Several UK sellers are offering them this year on Ebay. I know the older gold (early Vicky and older) is up nicely but don't know about the rest. I expect better date Edward VII silver is up too.
This weekend I was browsing in the World Coins - Publications and saw a bunch of listings. Some sellers were doing the "true" auction, some were BIN. Spink also had a few. I believe they were all UK sellers.
