Some cool cameos cherry picked this weekend .... should drive Russ crazy

Did a little cherry picking for cameos and high grade moderns this weekend. Here's a few:

The nice thing about the 1967 DCAM SMS nickel is that is was an original box and ALL 10 sets are cameo or deep cameo. Submissions will be heading in tomorrow after I get them all cleaned up and ready to go. As you can see they are still in the sets and haven't even been broken out yet.

Way cool. I need a 1957 cameo frankie like the one you cherried for my proof frankie set. I also would love to have a 1967 SMS nickel like the one you cherried.

    I have lots of questions.

Do the reverses of the pictured coins look like the obverses? The frankies look like they need a bath and look like they are just waiting to dry off and go neon on you. The 1967 SMS half and quarter pictured also look great. Do all ten halves and quarters look the same [as do the nickels]?

Where did you get the proof and SMS sets [one source or multiple sources]? Did you pick them up for the price of generic sets or did you pay a premium for them?

    Great pick up. Congrats.

I spent about 1 1/2 days going through 1000's of sets. In addition I went through BU rolls of frankies for high grades and FBL and BU rolls of Jeffersons for FS coins. I got a slew to submit. These came from 2 seperate inventories. The 1967 SMS half and quarter came from a seperate group as from the nickels. On much of the stuff I made a deal with the owner of the coins, I cherry pick the good stuff and we share the profits. On the SMS nickels I had to buy all the sets the guy had at ask to get the 10 sets I wanted.

Yes some of the coins need to be cleaned up before I send them in. Haze is a common problem on early sets and easily removed without hurting the coin.
  • Oh yeah, I only picked out ones that were nice cameo reverses as well. What you see on the obverse will be as nice on the reverse as well.

Looks like you hit a 1967 Bonanza there, well, you know, without Hoss.image

A most excellent cherry pickin weekend. What a thrill to search through multiple sets to find coins such as those pictured.

For cameo fans, we get to live vicariously through you today.

    PopTopruss:

After looking at your 1957 Frankie again [and with my understanding that the reverse looks like the obverse], I feel it would look great in my raw proof frankie collection. Would you be willing to sell it raw? If so, send me a PM with your asking price. Thank, SanctionII.

Those cameos are awesome. Do you know if the proofs were ordered early in the year of production? How many proof sets were in the bunch?

    Russ,

Trust me, I want to open them, but.....................................

    I also have a box of 10 1969 PF Sets...................postmarked 1/13/67. What are the odds of DCAM's

Nice score!! If that 62 franklin is really golden toned, I would hope that you wouldn't touch that one? Cameo franklins with attractive toning are the real deal...... image

PoptopsRuss, I tried to PM you about your raw 1957 cameo frankie but it would not go through. Would you be interested in selling it raw? SanctionII.
  • Question on your '64.....I have one with the similar line through the neck. Is yours from the pic in the wrapping or is yours an early stage die crack?

Hell, I don't need to exercise.....I get enough just pushing my luck.
  • Naa mine is from the wrapper, sorry.
