Selling on Teletrade?

I'm about to sell some of the more expensive slabbed moderns that I own and I'm wondering what the best way to do it is? I don't want to mention them, because I don't want to get them booted. But, for a slab over $100 what is the best way to sell? Teletrade, Heritage, Ebay? I've got one that's worth about $250, one worth $50, and one worth $25. I' was thinking of sending them all to teletrade, but I don't want to get slammed and I want to get the most. Does anyone else out there sell through Teletrade?

Your best bet is the BST here or ebay. I've never sold on Teletrade but I would think the fees would be to expensive for coins at levels under $50.

    CD,

Don't take this the wrong way, but I would hardly call these "some of the more expensive slabbed moderns".
If these are some of the more sought after coins I would suggest this board.
TeleTrade & Heretige will charge a nice % if they sell (never sold so I don't know the exact amount), eBay charges to list & you take the chance of not selling or selling for less than you would like, then paying them.
I would (& do) list here first.

Always try the BST first... no fees image

  • For those of you who are not aware, if you return a coin to Teletrade you WILL incur a “restock” fee along with other fees they see fit no matter how many coins you’ve bought from them in the past. I personally lost over $ 50.00 returning a $ 850 coin after I didn’t agree with the coin’s description. Frankly, it wasn’t even close to the description. Good luck with your purchase..........

    Not Teletrade

  • Some of the auction companies also have a minimum dollar submission amount. You should check that also.
  • Teletrade has always been good to me for both buying and selling. For coins that bring less than $750, they take 8% of the bid price, or $5- whichever is greater. For more expensive coins, their seller's fee drops to as low as 4%. Every coin has an image, too. They do require a $1000 minumum total consignment, though. By the way, they do not arbitrarally charge "any other fees they see fit" for returns, as was incorrectly noted above, but simply refund your bid price & buyer's fee and take out 5% of the bid price + $5 or $10 (according to the value of the coin.) Hope this helps.
  • Sounds like Teletrade is not the way to go. Thanks for the Advice.

Ajia, I'm well aware these slabs are not "some of the more expensive slabbed moderns". I only meant that in terms of what I have ever owned and dealt in, the comment was not meant to cover all moderns. A couple hundred bucks is a big deal for kid in college like myself.
