I guess the seller expected it to go higher, but frankly, how could that happen,without a picture of the obv. and with a reverse picture of rather poor quality? The florin and the shilling look great but there was no way of telling the condition of the gold coins. You can't bid this kind of money based on guesses..., well I wouldn't at least.
Heritage recently sold a long 1902 set, the gold coins graded PCGS PR64 except for the half sov that was a 63 i think, and the silver coins raw, described as choice/gem for a total of $3000 if my memory is correct.
Very nice set, but went WAY beyond my price range...
