    Thanks to all for the warm welcome. I'm guess I'm firmly entrenched in the darkside (albeit unbeknownst to me) as I buy and sell mainly British coins. I will patiently wait for the dark mysteries to reveal themselves to me...just hope I don't trip over something and break my fool neck. You guys are great and this place looks like a lot of fun.image

    I way of looking at the name is "US collectors interest is so narrow that if they wander away from the mainstream 'popular' series they find themselves 'competely in the dark'." Many don't even have knowledge of series that are in the Redbook outside the twentieth century circulation coins, Morgans and Indian head cents. Two and three cent pieces make them nervous, and colonials WHICH AREN"T EVEN IN THE GREYSHEET!!! scare the living daylights out of them. Coins from outside the US, especially if the legends aren't in english with roman alphabets, might as well be from Mars. ("What? You mean I have to buy another book?? SEVERAL OF THEM!!!")
