Babe Ruth Fro Joy set on ebay?

Here's the link - it doesn't look like the reprints I've seen, but there are some suspicious elements to the auction. What do you think?

  • In a previous sale, he says he thinks the cards were printed in the 70s.

    Ruth

And he has sold a Mantle reprint in the past.

    Mantle

    And a Plank

    Plank

This is one of the feedbacks he received: "Card is a faked reprint, but a good one. I still like it."

In reviewing the items he has sold, it seems (besides a watch) that he only sells reprinted baseball cards.

You know, you're right - I guess I was too lazy to read the whole thing - obvious fakes - thanks.

About a year ago, I remember writing a bunch of guys selling the Fro-joys and they all had the same "tired" narrative - "I picked this up at an estate sale" yada, yada. I believe in the 70's a mess of the sheets which were 'mail-in' premiums were reprinted in mass. They can be spotted as fakes if they have full color or blue tint and are slightly oversized from the orginals. Many sellers will state that they are probably reprints from the original 1928 August campaign by Fro-Joy to take advantage of the Babe's popularity to boost the sale of their ice cream. You will find that some experts on the set will tell you that 99% of what they see are fakes. The cards are approximately 2 1/16" x 4" and black and white.

Spot on, Mike. Here's my set I bought for a dollar about 20 years ago:
