Prooflike 1992-D Jefferson in 1992 Mint Set

Wondering if Cladking or any others who look at lots of modern mint sets have come across this.

Amazing chromelike surfaces w/ deep mirrors, totally unlike all other 92 nickels I have seen. Six bold steps as well. Unfortunately only grades about MS62 though.

Sorry, I don't have pix capability to show all.

Sure. These are actually pretty "common" especially in the '92 set. (~.5%)

Most look like yours with a lot of marking which is especially obvious on such
stunning surfaces. There are clean ones out there though.

Most of the post '87 coins appear this way sometimes. They appear to have
been struck on burnished planchets. I've been told that these are common in
the souvenir sets but, incredibly, I can't find any souvenir sets to confirm it.
