The Coin Collector's Survival Manual

All of these books are on the way. I'm officially hooked. Is it beneficial to have the Charlton catalogue for Canadian coins or will the Krause do the job just fine? What books are you reading?

Nice start, and, yeah - you're hooked image

I will be getting the Krause 19th, 18th, and 17th century soon (I hope!!!) Plus I have several US specialty books (half cents and large cents) and Dalton & Hamer for Conder Tokens.

I recommend the Charlton Catalogue for Canadian coins. It is only $14. Just remember, the values are in Canadian Dollars.

The Charleton is a physical double for the Red Book so it won't add too much weight to your shelves image and will likely cost you less than $12 and is worthwhile owning.

The new Charlton has tons of stuff including popular varieties. The older copies cover the decimal coins, maritimes, paper money and tokens all in one little book and can be found for as low as $1.

That's a hefty load of books, enjoy!

I have more coin books than I can count, something like 200-250 I guess. On the way right now is the 2005 Spink guide to British.

  • well I was going to order my World book tonite, but instead had to put that money towards ticket for hubby to fly to his Mom's funeral - much more important, and I will get my book next month maybe. Having worked at two libraries, I am also a book lover.

Now you gotta get the other Kruase World Coin books too.
Breen's Complete Encyclopdia of US coins adds a lot of heft there too.
They make my coffee table sort of sag in the middle though.
Extremely important, do not pick them all up at once, very dangerous, collectors have been known to get hurt doing it.image
