Not to keen on it myself...

  • I like it. It's better than the sea of other buffs that have been doctored to look "white". That 1914 screams originality.

Yep, that's exactly what I'm thinking. Originality is a good thing in my book.

Does this have to be a bad thing?

    I guess that's why I'm hesitant.

It's a great coin (if your ok with the original look)...but the eye appeal makes it less marketable - So it simply depends on your intentions with the coin.
  • Disclaimer: This is not my series so I have no idea what I'm looking for.

Following my disclaimer, I admit that I love good looking original coins. This fits into the original category for me, but not the good-looking.

It's a very original, blah-looking coin in the picture.

For some reason, I think it would look nicer in person image

I think the thick hazy tone makes it seem that you are to epect a 'dull' looking coin -- maybe??

BTW - i don't care for it myself...

But the strike is KILLER and the surfaces are mark free! If it weren't for the toning, this coin could easily grade 65.

I don't collect this series, but I agree with xpipedreamr- I think it might look better in person......

  • I don't have any desire for that type of toning.

  • I have to say that I like that coin a lot. As stated in many previous posts, Heritage's pictures rarely do coins justice, especially when it comes to color/toning. One thing is certain, the toning looks oh so original. That is definitely a 65+ strike for a 14S and if it did have any marks, they would stick out like a sore thumb as they would probably take off that delicate layer of toning. Dipping it would likely restore the luster, but if it were my coin, I would leave it be for originality's sake.
  • Looks like others like this coin too- it's already at the top of the price point for a 63 (with the juice).
