It's a great coin (if your ok with the original look)...but the eye appeal makes it less marketable - So it simply depends on your intentions with the coin.

I have to say that I like that coin a lot. As stated in many previous posts, Heritage's pictures rarely do coins justice, especially when it comes to color/toning. One thing is certain, the toning looks oh so original. That is definitely a 65+ strike for a 14S and if it did have any marks, they would stick out like a sore thumb as they would probably take off that delicate layer of toning. Dipping it would likely restore the luster, but if it were my coin, I would leave it be for originality's sake.

I like it. It's better than the sea of other buffs that have been doctored to look "white". That 1914 screams originality.

Yep, that's exactly what I'm thinking. Originality is a good thing in my book.
<< <i>a bit to hazy and thick for me. >>
Does this have to be a bad thing?
<< <i>Borderline fugly >>
I guess that's why I'm hesitant.
Following my disclaimer, I admit that I love good looking original coins. This fits into the original category for me, but not the good-looking.
For some reason, I think it would look nicer in person
