It's MS, at least 63 and perhaps 64. Typical flat New Orleans strike above the ear.

    I'm with K6AZ... lock-63; shot-64.
    When in doubt, don't.

Looks MS 63ish. Nice luster, typical flat breast and flatness above ears.

  • Tough to tell how baggy the cheek is from the pics, typical strike I'd guess anywhere from 60-63

    Looks MS though.
  • 63...very nice
  • thanx all for the reply,

MS 63 is what the seller said and I had no reason to believe otherwise, but I'm new to grading and have no clue yet as to which years have weak strikes and which do not.

I see the weak strike over the ear and first thing I think of is wear....image

Okay 1888o typical weak strike, 1888o typical weak strike, 1888o typical weak strike, I won't forget that one.

  • typical 63. Looks liek it has great luster, and i really like the slight toning towards the top of the obverse.

I would say 63. The fields say a shot at 64, but the cheek looks like it has too much on it to give it a 64.

I'll go with what most others said, MS-63 typical weak strike for an O mint Morgan. Good clean coin IMO. image

  • To differentiate between wear and weak strike, look for a corresponding weak area on the opposite side of the coin. Wear is much more random, whereas weak strike will generally affect each corresponding area on both sides of the coin.

Looks like MS-63 to me, too -- even before reading all the other opinions above. image
