Dansco album question

Hello, I have finally come to the Seated dime section of my album and I noticed what seems to be an oversight.
Why is the Seated Dime with no stars not included in the album? This is a fairly major variation and there are many other 1 year types, so what am I missing here?

Thanks in advance for the info...

they decided to draw the line somewhere, especially with the seated coins.

you'll notice the "drapery-no drapery" varieties, as well as the 1873-4 "with arrows" varieties, are not included either.

mostly it's to keep the album manageable.

only one type of 3 cent silver, I think there are a couple of other examples

For the same reason Fugio Cents and some other earlier, more expensive type coins, and less scarce (Relatively, of course) varieties of other coins aren't included - They needed to make the set fit in a 1" binder image. I know a lot of people with second blank albums that basically 'extend' their type sets into them with types that are not included in the 7070 so they can be complete; I've been thinking about doing so myself lately.

There are some major omissions in that album, although on the whole I like it. There is only the small bust quarter, for instance -- not the large one, although the larger bust half is included. I think some of it had to do with page layout & available space, frankly.

I personally would like to see a page of "omissions" instead of the bicentenial page. Include drapery and no-drapery coins, arrows, different 3CS types, different capped dimes, etc. Also missing on the gold page are Type 2 dollar, $3, $4 (although it shouldn't be included), and no-motto varieties.

There certainly can be arguments as to where to draw the line, but major varieties should have been included.

I would love to have an "advanced" page that includes all the types mentioned, as well as the classic head gold, etc..

maybe we can all get together on a custom order and get bulk pricing for a custom page.

I will call dansco this week and see what they can do

  • Thank you for the replies. I would gladly pay a few more dollars for an additional page with 6 or seven of the major varieties that were ommited. The album is not that thick when compared with my Washington album.
Oh well, I will continue to work to complete the set. After completing it, I will go back and pick up what I missed.

An omitted type page sounds good. Any update?
