Ok, this is the first time I have ever attempted to put together a page so it's about as basic as you can get. I am going to make a lot of modifications and additions to it as I go so feedback would be very helpful at this point. Color schemes, fonts, images....you name it if you don't like it let me know.
I would have liked to have used thumbnail images and then allowed the viewer to click on the images to enlarge, but I don't know how to do it.
Again, thanks for looking and other than, "your site sucks" all feedback is welcome. :thumbsup:

<< <i>good job, nice coins - what is that green stuff on the 87 ob? >>
Just toning????........my scanner seems to like to take Rose colors and make them appear more green in the scans. The electric blue is on the coin as is some of the green, but I wasn't able to capture the rose color in the center of the coin?
Thanks for the kind words Michael.......I have quite a few more coins to add and then I might add some additional pages, links etc, but I had to get my feet wet first. Then I might add some notes under each coin, want lists etc.
it will be a really interesting site when you get all this done...... shane
let us know on here

Nice pics of your morgans.
Need more $$$ for coins?
<< <i>nice error. I'd offer half a million, but since it's not for sale, I guess I won't.

My only comment on the site is that I think it needs a title or some words at the very top to identify what the site is (what you have is not very noticable in that it doesn't stand out). That would really help the design of the page if you made an easily recognizable and informative intro at the top. A person's focus is usually at the top 1/3 of a page initially and that is where you need to catch their attention.
Good pics and nice work!
There are a few things you need to consider. First, some sort of title or banner to identify the site better (maybe some graphics). Next, some links to additional information (e.g. history of the Morgans, explanation of VAM, varieties of toning possible{bag, album, textile, etc. and examples}, information about you, some method to see more than one coin at a time {you mentioned thumbnails that you will no doubt figure out how to do}, grading scale and some notation of which are slabbed {and by whom}).
Possibly links to other toned collections similar to yours, percentage complete (possibly blank spaces with notation of coins to come in the future) ........ there are lots of things you can add to make it interesting (literature references, books or articles on the chemistry of toning, etc. etc.
Good luck and I look forward to seeing the progress.
To add thumbnails with links to larger pictures, you will first need to create two versions of your images. The smaller thumbnails and the larger image (which is probably your original image...already done with this part unless you want a different size than it originally was). You could resize the graphics on the html page for the thumbnails of the large files using the height and width attributes, however, it is best to avoid doing this as the viewer will then have to download the full size versions of the images and the web browser resize them before viewing. Other than saving design space, you still have a lot of overhead in downloading the large files. It is best to make smaller versions of the large files for quick web page loading.
You can create the smaller thumbnail images using your favorite image editing software. If you don't have one to work with, you can use IrfanView, which is a free image viewing piece of software that also has the ability to do simple image modifications (such as resizing/cropping, which is what you want to do).
After you have created both versions of the images, add references to the smaller thumbnail images on your web page just like you did for the ones currently there. For example:
<img SRC="1880Morgan-small.jpg" height=100 width=200>
Note: I changed file name to reference the smaller image file (the name i used is just an example, you will use whatever you name the file). Also, the height and width attributes were changed to be made smaller. They do not need to be specified if you want the image to show up as its actual size).
Next you will want to make the thumbnail a link. Using the above example, the code will then be modified like so:
<a href="1880Morgan.jpg"><img SRC="1880Morgan-small.jpg" height=100 width=200 border=0></a>
The anchor tag creates a link out of the contents between the opening anchor tag and the closing anchor tag. You will notice that I added one property to the image tag (border=0). This is so there will not be a blue border surrounding the image once it is made into a link. You may omit that code if you do want the blue border.
Rinse, Wash, Repeat for as many as you want, just changing the files they link to.
This process creates links to the larger image files which will then be displayed by themselves with no web page surrounding them. You will have to use the back button on the web browser to get back to the page with the thumbnails.
There are other ways to go about implementing what you want, but this is the simplest to do with little additional work needed.
I am going to take a bit of time and work on it and once I incorporate a bunch of these suggestions and add a few more coins, links, about me section etc.....I start a new thread to show off my progress. As always more feedback welcome and I have my work cut out for me.

Nope it's a joke....I took and Image of a Morgan and used a morphing software to make it looked like what a bugs eye sees. It's cool, but just an illusion
CONGRATS!!!
