Fun Parody Quarters from the Texas Coin Show today

I got these "Parody" Quarters at the Texas Coin Show in Grapevine Texas this morning.
I am told that the guy who strikes these used to be a die engraver for the US Mint and other Minting companies,
but now all he does is make these interesting coins. They had some of Sen. Hillary Clinton and Pres. Clinton, but I didn't care for them myself.
Anyway I thought you quarter guys might enjoy them.

The one with the chick flashing me appears to be double struck. Even though it is the year 2002 coin, you can see the year 2003 next to her 'shirt'.

That looks like a die clash to me.
I think the guy who makes them and his son missed one and clashed the dies when they were striking the coins.

A Google search "PArody Quarters" turned up a number of places that sell them. But they are cheaper at the coin show.

Check Ebay. There's usually tons of them there.

I have a few of these as well. I believe they are made using regular statehood quarters as "planchets". Thus they are double struck off of two completely different sets of dies. This would explain some of the double striking and what appears to be die clashes.

  • That's correct, they use regular state quarters as planchets.
  • Nice "bust" quarters!
