Me, too. Personally, I think Photograde could have easily used this coin as the plate coin for an F-12 Barber Half. It's pretty much a textbook example of a nice, original example of that grade and type.

  • yes , I like the look of the coin also and now that I have this one, I'll try to get the whole series in the same grade. Hopefully that won't hurt my pocketbook as much as higher grade coins would.

it has only vg detail, but surprisingly a full liberty. that alone gets you a f-12!

I like it...and it would be a tremendous accomplishment to find an entire set with that eye appeal, grade, and originality.

Good eye, I didn't notice till you mentioned it.

I don't have any others to compare it to.

The right side of the W doesn't look right either.

    Die Break???? I don't know.

The 1909-O, S and P all come with an extra strong LIBERTY, and every coin grading VG will look like a Fine. It is the most perpetually overgraded three dates in the series in grades of VG-XF.

    VG10.

Glad someone noticed the 1909 senario...its one date that Liberty was strong impressed into the die. I remember looking at that date years ago wondering why all the Fine coins were lower end VG's when you take the coin as a whole.

Why only that one year ?

Without checking any grading references on these I would say F12. Rather flat design, yet all the letters of LIBERTY are visible. Sounds right to me.
