My 1957 Topps Hoops Submission

Check this out. Order #563433, 78230. PSA is certainly consistent. The same bell curve as my other 57 submissions. These cards came directly out of a vending box. The grades are what I expected overall but I couldn't have told you which of the cards would get the 8 or the 7's. I can usually nail the grades on the 61 fleer set and 69 topps but I just can't figure out this set at all. I am going to crack some of the 6's and 7's and see what GAI does with them and I'll report back! There are only about 1,000 8's in the entire population of this set and I would bet that most of those were from early or "0" serial submissions.

If you truly feel that they are graded on a bell curve, then it would be in your best interest to break out the 6s and 7s, and resubmit them to PSA. You should get your regular % of 8s upon resubmission, but don't just cherry pick, send them all in (6 and 7) and see if your theory holds true. I wouldn't send them to GAI as they will lose value just by being in their holder.
  • I think I'm going to send in another batch of about 15 57's and see what happens. The problem with breaking them all out is that it gets costly! Maybe then I'll break out all of the 6's and go for the upgrade.

This is just a tough set to build and to figure grading wise.
