Pardon me if this has already been posted recently, but I only happened upon this site today, when trying to answer someone's question about grading.

No doubt, some of you are already familiar with this excellent grading resource, but presumably, many are not.

It is courtesy of James/Jim Halperin of Heritage. He is undoubtedly one of the top grader's in the world, if not the universe.image

Disclaimers:
1) I do not work for Heritage, though I have twice in the past
2) This is not a paid endorsement and no one asked me to post this link here
3) I AM hoping this will result in a great deal from Heritage one day.image

Ditto what the CoinGuy said, except that I have lower expectations on the part about getting a good deal one day. image

  • I`ve had this site bookmarked for a couple years now. I bought the book a few months ago and I think it`s well worth getting. You can get a copy from Amazon for $14.95: How to Grade U.S. Coins by James L. Halperin

I think that an even better way to brush-up on grading is to use the zoom feature on the Heritage site. Search for the type of coin that you want to study and have at it. If I know that I'm going to be looking at a bunch of MS Walkers, or Saints, I'll look at a lot of them on the Heritage site to fine tune my grading. The color and lustre may not be spot-on, but strike and marks are. Its not as good as seeing them live, but its pretty darned helpful.
