Talk about deceptive...

this seller puts "lot" in the title and pictures several cards...then says that only one card is for sale and the "lot" is just for his record and has nothing to do with the auction.

Yeah...sure...

I'll never bid on this...

    Good for you.
  • His feedback is over 14,000. It seems as though he does it for his records.Probably sells a # of lots,so he needs a code for them. He describes this in his auction.Doesn't seem bad to me.

Maybe he sells a number of lots. The problem is...this isn't one of them. It's deceptive to put the word "lot" in the title, picture six cards and then say that you're only selling one of them. I'm not saying the guy's an outright scammer, but I am saying I won't bid on his items because of the way he deceives people.

So he sells a lot of stuff. Isn't the item number a pretty good way to keep track of them? Seems to work for everyone else. Or, if that doesn't work, use some other word or combination of letters that isn't as clearly as deceptive as "lot"

In the world of auctions, the term "lot" refers to each auction number. Sometimes an auction "lot" has multiple items, sometimes a "lot" has only one item. We don't see many eBay auctioneers use that term very often for single-item auctions, but it is still an acceptable term. The fact that he clearly describes what is up for auction makes this acceptable and non-deceptive in my book. Sorry if it confuses some people, but if they don't read the description, then the buyer would be at fault if they thought they were getting more than one card.

If you go to live auction, you will probably hear the head master say, "Next up for auction--Lot 133387--a gold vase from Paris, dated 1889" etc, etc. about the details of the vase and the manufacturer. (and the auction is just for the gold vase, nothing else)

No offense to ajw...just my 2 cents.
I collect Vintage Cards, Commemorative Sets, and way too many vintage and modern player collections in Baseball (180 players), Football (175 players), and Basketball (87 players). Also have a Dallas Cowboy team collection.
  • Akbar, my thoughts exactly. He clearly states in big letters, "You are bidding on the above listed card in the title only. All cards scanned below are listed individually on Ebay. Card is in nearmint or better condition... The Lot LC in title is for my record and has nothing to do with the card itself." I really don't see anything deceptive.
  • i've bought cards from this seller before, on several occasions.. all transactions were good,,
