Question: .............. Denominations? Pics of early half and dollar coins ?

I know nothing about these. What brought me to ask this question is the thread going on right now about the bogus 1801 Half.

The one in question doesn't have anything on it to identify the denomination? image Those of you with the knowledge can look at these and know what they are right off.

Can smoeone post pics (obv & rev) of an early Half and Dollar to educate me? imageimageimageimageimageimageimageimage

Thanks in advance image

  • stman,
Thanks for the pics but image which is which ? image

  • Top is a dollar, middle is a half, and the bottom is a half dime.

Note the differences in the truncation of the bust between the dollar and half dollar. Going from right to left, on the dollar it rises much more gently as it approaches the hair. On the half it curves up much more steeply and then turns back down. On the half dime the head overwhelms the die and crowds both the date and the lettering above.
