Card grading company used by the FBI ????

OK, ok...we all have seen several "stories" from ebay auctions....but a card company used by the FBI..."for fraud and counterfeit card verification and encapsulation...."????

I'm not saying that's untrue, but I have never heard about it.

Now - is this just crap, or are those claims real? My vote is on crap - what is "collectionmonster" anyway?

See the CLAIMS of this "collectionmonster" auction - ARE THE "FBI" CLAIMS CRAP?

Thanks

Dal

Saying don't make it so. Found further down in the description, I think this tells it all:

CMAuthentix.com is a division of Card Collector Services, Inc./Collectionmonster. We have over 5 years experience and solid reputation in the industry with 100% positive feedback. Bid with confidence

    'nuff sed. don't think I'll be bidding....image

  • LOL - I didn't even notice that the seller's Ebay store, CMAuthentix, is A DIVISION of Collectionmonster - the same company who grades these cards - now that's not a conflict of interest there, is it?

Basically collectionmonster grades 'em and sells 'em.

    CRAP CRAP CRAP CRAP

Edited: to give MorrellMan credit for catching the obvious!!!
  • at least he doesnt have any "Gem Mint 10's"..

That 8.5 looks pretty damn good IMO.
At least they weren't so bold as to pump out 10s
from the get go. Regardless, I'd stay away from all
    off brands.

Might look good, but whos to say that someone didnt help it to look good?

It really makes me sad when I see a uncommon or older card in an off-brand, PRO, etc. holder and realize that someone has likely messed with the card and taken it away from the world forever.
I am looking for Nolan Ryan cards, esp. OPC and rare oddball issues, graded or not. Also I need quite a few 1956 Topps, PSA 6 or higher

    Current Sets in Progress:
1956 Topps Master Set PSA 6 or better
    1978 Topps PSA 9 or 10
    1981 Donruss Golf PSA 9 or 10
    1989 Upper Deck PSA 9 or 10
    Nolan Ryan Master Set
    Pete Rose Master Set

I think Collectionmonster was started by some people from Krause Publications.
According to their website, they have a 3300 square foot grading facility, and the public can observe grading (through interior windows).
If they have the same graders who worked for SCDA, I would feel comfortable buying their cards (not at PSA prices, but at some discount).

I do recall reading in SCD a couple of years ago the FBI using CCSI to verify that a Wagner was fake. I'm not going to vouch for the credibility of the company but I do think there is some truth to the sellers claim. On an unrelated note at the National In Chicago a couple years ago I signed up for a free Collection monster trial. Upon doing so I got 3 free CCSI onsite card gradings. All 3 came back with what I believe to be accurate grades(not gem mint 10's) but I have never tried to sell the cards because I am not comfortable selling cards from low tier or unknown grading companys.

They are based somewhere near me around Detroit, although I have never bothered to make a trip over there to see their operation. Unless I was purchasing a card in their holder in person, where I could inspect the card with a loupe and measure it, I wouldn't touch their cards.
