Check out this Bid History: Link
Apparently, the seller was unaware of eBay's new rule that you can't cancel an auction with less than 12 hours to go. I'm sure he's plenty steamed, but not nearly as much as rgremb who had his (potentially) winning bid canceled out from under him. Mad props to the winner, however, for sneaking in on this one.

When did this become operative? And I assume this means it's the end of a seller cancelling an auction, say, in the last half hour because the seller thinks the action is too slow. If my assumption is correct, this is a great rule.
Why cancel your bid due to "not enough bids"? Unless you're a shill

It does seem he cancelled a couple of shill bidders ... IMHO ..
Maybe "My shill is high bidder" should be a cancelation option?
But this guy canceled the 2 bids at 3:30 PM when it was at $102.50
Then when he found out he couldn't end the auction early anymore he probably

Heh....you sell then you keep it to the end.
I am seeing a lot of "seller has ended the auction earlier since the item is no longer for sale" and cancelling bids to do it, so, I am happy to see when this happens.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
<< <i>Ok how about this, what if I see a coin worth 1000. I bid 50 bucks and have 2 shills run it up to 1200 to scare off all bidders. They both cancel 10 seconds before the auction ends and I'm left as hi bidder at 50 bucks. Does this work? >>
Yes it does, and it has been done.

This is called Bid Shielding.
Here is a quote from ebay's site for it:
"eBay will thoroughly investigate bid retractions. Abuse of this feature may result in the suspension of your account. Bids retracted within the last 24 hours of listing can be viewed as bid shielding, which is a serious violation of our policy."
I am sure they keep busy "thoroughly investigating" bid retractions.
