I once pulled into a bait shop in Pike Natl. Forest in Colorado and they had a case of coins next to the fridge of nitecrawlers...too hard to put the coins on the hook, so I went with the worms!

He says he has about a dozen unattributed bust halves. Sounds like my kind of place, about 150 mile drive to the ocean, I will go there one of these weekends.

Heh. That picture was taken at a Formal Military Ball. My team just got back from a deployment, unloaded the HUMVEE that we were riding back from the airbase on and the Battalion CO walked up to us and insisted that we all be present at the Ball that night, which was to take place in three hours. So we all showed up in Dress A's with full camo. Everyone thought it was funny except the Battalion Commander; go figure. And on that note, this is the last time I'm ever going to justify my avatar not being a 'blackface' picture .
what's the oddest coin-shop/other combo you've seen?
I own an 1863 Civil War Token (storecard) that says "Fishing Tackle and Rare Coins" in a New York town. Sounds like the same place that Saintguru visited, only a different state. Must be a franchise.
Bojuko Ru in Marina, Ca---- coin store and martial arts supplies! Not sure if its still there anymore. It existed right in the middle of a residential neighborhood

Something tells me they didn't get robbed a lot....
Oh, I almost forgot one of the shops in Grand Rapids: It's a combination furniture store and rare coin store. Actually the coins weren't exactly "rare" the last time I checked.
Ive always wanted to open a cigar/coin store...Does cigar smoke really effect coins...cuase I may have to rethink that one. I can always have a seperate room for people to come in and smoke, but I think it would be cool for them to light one up while looking at coins. Maybe ill just have to have a giant vaccum above that sucks in all the smoke!
There is a shop in my town named "David's good Low Priced household supplies, Records, Pets, and Coins". It's said the household supplies and records come from garage sales, the pets are stray dogs and cats plus a few snakes he can catch, and the coins are common date circulated clads that he tries to mark up 10% over face. (I think he is still in business)
Who is General Failure, and why is he reading my hard drive?
While you couldn't see this coin shop as it had no brick and mortar address, a trio of dealers in the 1980's formed a Coin Firm named "Lie Cheat & Steal." I thought it was hilarious, and they sold good coins too. Their Coin World ads sort of set things on ear for a bit. The name parodied many of the scheister dealers of the 1980's...and there were plenty of them....many still around today only "more" honest due to certification.
Rob Weiner and Tom ? (I can't recall his last name) were 2 of the principals. I cannot recall the name of the 3rd. Tom's current business in the Elusive Spondulox which is still quite a mouthfull.
Used to shop at a place called "Northwest Coins" - Nice selection of coins - bought quite a few while building various sets.
Little did I know but the place also turned out to be a drug store as well (to be fair - the conviction is still pending) prior owner is looking at about 600+ years in the fed pen.
In Tyler Texas, the is a Coin/Jewelry shop. Nice coins too... I remeber PCGS proof Liberty Nickels and such. Left with some low grade SLQs and a nice antique diamond ring for my wife.
Kathy's used hunting gear, antiques and coins behind the Metlin Hotel in senic Dillon, Montana. Everything came in three prices including Morgan Dollars which were arranged in three giant wood boxes. I think the three grades were $10, $20 and $30 depending on wear. The "bid" was the grade lower than the box in would sell in! Pretty simple.

Does this qualify as a combination shop?
