My 1999 Clad Proof Set . . .

. . . is developing some toning.
It's pretty cool. All coins to a certain extent have developed toning around the edge, kind of like album-toning. So far, it's a orange/yellow color. The strongest is on the nickel, and the dime's obverse is almost completely yellow.
I find this interesting because my 1999 Silver Proof Set was stored in the same place, and there is no toning at all.
Is this happening to anyone else? I also welcome any theories as to why my clad set is toning while my silver one isn't.

I just checked some "out of box" proof sets I've had on a shelf, here in my office (Mama calls it my "rat hole") and lo and behold, the clad, 1999 State Quarters are exhibiting the very same, identical, kinda toning? Wow. Scary.. I just have the Washington's, tho.
No temp swings here, no sunlight. Wonder why.....??

At the time, I had all my proof sets in a closet. Because of some leaking pipes in the apartment above mine I imagine it got very humid in there and was at least a factor in the toning.
Based on other responses, looks like something got into the holders at the mint that day.
Both of my sets are doing exactly the same. Qtrs are starting to tone yellow like the nickels. Dime and half also starting around the edge
They had been in my safe since I bought them, but took them out 3-4 months ago and have been in a shoebox in my closet since.
