AU50 1955 Doubled Die

I haven't been in the market for one of these in awhile, but the price on this one seemed right. ...Right? image

I looked at the PCGS Price guide and it doesn't list any cents in AU, but shows $1,150 for EF

Since the sellers offers no refunds I guess you'll learn to like it, or find somebody who likes it more than $500

Pat, CDN bid, even in just "Good", is $600. So, unless the coin is a fake or badly damaged in some way, or unless the seller doesn't deliver what he advertised, it appears that the buy was a (pun intended) "good" one. image
  • Many people stayed away because of the small pic. Even if it is XF-40, you got a steal!

It's in an old PCI slab, so you can figure (1) it's genuine, and (2) it grades at least AU50. It may even be a bit nicer in person, you know the book on the 10-digit PCI holders. I say it's a nice snag.

That is never a given no matter what company holder it is in.

It sat for about 14 hours with only a single bid (didn't tap the reserve...).

I BIN'ed it without even checking the price guides. I'm hoping the scanner (instead of a digital photo) is 'hiding' luster and this one will NGC at AU53 or so.

  • I am surprised it lasted almost a day. Seller had that WAY underpriced. MAJOR RIP!!
  • Don't be surprised if the seller tries to back out of this one.

I wonder- is this the well known doubled die variety or one of the less dramatic and less valuable varieties? mike

    Oh, oh,

Braddick will want to wear this one down anyway to AG-03 for his set.

Even at that price if the doubling is still clear, would still not be worth much less than the price paid.

    Probably a real rip.
