Incomplete planchets wanted, especially Lincoln Cents & type coins.
"Keep in mind that most of what passes as numismatic information is no more than tested opinion at best, and marketing blather at worst. However, I try to choose my words carefully, since I know that you guys are always watching." - Joe O'Connor
This is an average MS-66RED 72 DDO. Clean, bag-mark and chatter wise.
The red is deepening in color so a close eye must be kept on the color of this coin.
I happen to own 3 in MS-66RED (also PCGS) and multiples in each grade from MS-63RED through MS-67 RED and most of them are more coppery in color. Very hard to preserve.
I would pay closer attention to the spots under U of TRUST and the two well below LIBERTY. Also there is some discoloration on the reverse in the fields and waht appears to be condensation stains on each side of the E PLURIBUS UNUM. Also Lincoln's cheek needs further examination.
Sometimes simply as PCGS MS64RD DOUBLED DIE OBVERSE
and sometimes they use the FS designator... MINT ERROR PCGS MS66RD FS-33.52 DDO
Assuming both coins were graded the same, is one worth more than the other? I know there are various dies for this error and the amount of doubling can vary.
cladking: Very good strike. There are stronger strikes out there particularly in MS-67. Obverse: Lincoln's shirt shows typical weakness. Hair above ear looks flat. Reverse is very nice and strong strike for the grade.
rlawsha: Only the DDO #1 variety is the one PCGS calls the Doubled Die cent. There are numerous more minor varieties of the Doubled Die Cent and PCGS labeles them as such to avoid potential confusion.

This would be an outstanding condition for any '72 cent, much less The DDO.
<< <i>Any guess' on the final bid ? >>
Probably less than it would have been had he titled the auction correctly. If that's a consigned coin, the consignor might not be too happy.

Still going to garner a decent price.
How would you rate the strike (obv and rev) on this coin?

But the obverse is where it is mostly about.
